NUC - Power on via VPRO/AMT fails

$

Hi,

I have 4 x D53427RKE (all purchased at the same time with an identical config a couple of years ago) and three of them have the same problem. If they are shutdown by a user (from within Windows 8.1) and then left for an hour or more then vpro/amt power on stops working. The fourth D53427RKE does not have this problem and will successfully power on even days after being shutdown.

Very strangely, if I try to power on the three D53427RKEs after just a few minutes of being shutdown by a user then it works fine!

At all times I can access the vpro/amt webpage on all of the D53427RKEs and I can connect via VNC Viewer plus. It's just that the remote control power commands do not work.

All of them used to have the same o/s drivers and BIOS until, in desperation, I recently upgraded the BIOS on the three that fail to RKPPT10H.86A.0042.2015.0625.1859 from RKPPT10H.86A.0017.2013.0425.1251.

I have compared every BIOS setting between the three that fail and the one that works and they are identical.

Has anyone seen this before or can help me troubleshoot because there don't seen to be any log to see what is really happening?

Kind Regards,

4K playpack poor with NUC5i7RYH

Dearest Group,

I am having problems with playback of 4K video, especially from 'YouTube' with my i7 NUC.

. High processor usage.

. Fan running at high speed.

. Playback stuttering.

This is experienced in IE, Firefox and Chrome. I have read with interest on this forum that Google are using a computationally expensive codec with YouTube. However, it was stated that IE mitigates this problem - I still have problems with IE.

With 4K video downloaded onto the local hard drive and VLC used as the media player, I have good video but the fan is still very noisy - especially with complex scenes. However, processor usage is much reduced. I assume the GPU is now working hard?

Graphics driver 10.18.14.4222

BIOS 0249

Has anyone else got experience with 4K video on the NUC i7? It could be asking too much of the device as a media player and I need to reign in my expectations?

Thanks,

Richard

NUC 5i5RYK BSOD after installing W7 64bit

I just loaded W7 64 bit on this machine - the very day I had done this, it gave 2 BSOD's. I attach the .dmp files - which seem to indicate something wrong with the Intel drivers.

Can anyone provide a different/better interpretation, as I am no expert in these things.

I have run FurMark for a few minutes to stress test the graphics, memtest to test the RAM, nothing now causes it to bluescreen. I have had it running overnight and it is now (apparently) fine.

Can I disregard the BSOD's as just one of those funny things which happen from time to time, or should I be worried?

Intel NUC D54250: "No signal" after switching monitor back on

$

I bought an Intel NUC D54250WYKH3 seven months ago and I have been having problems if I switch the monitor off when I am not working and switching it back on some time later.

The monitor will show 'No signal' and I have to wait a random length of time, possibly hours, for the monitor to display the screen contents.

I have upgraded the BIOS several times and I am currently at WY0040.BIO, but the problem still remains.

I am running Debian 7.7 and the situation can be significantly improved if I activate the screen saver before I switch the monitor off, so much so that I now stand a better than 50% chance of the monitor working when I switch it back on.

I am using the mini Display Port (DP) port on the NUC connected to the DP port on the monitor. I believe that it is the NUC at fault as connecting a Raspberry Pi/Raspbian to the HDMI port or a dual boot Windows 7/Linux to the DVI port all display the screen contents properly when I switch the monitor back on.

I would really like to make the connection 100% reliable because as it stands I cannot make the NUC my main PC.

I would be grateful if anybody has solved this problem. If not, is there any information that I can provide to help narrow down where the problem lies?

NUC NUC5i5RYH HDMI Sleep Issue

Guys,

Just picked up this little unit and turned it into an HTPC. So far it is working brilliantly but am having issues anytime the unit OS goes to sleep. I am running Windows 8.1. When the OS turns off the TV and then I move the mouse to return to the desktop instead all I get is fuzz. I have tried several versions of of Linux, run OpenElec, and have the same issue. Anytime the system puts the monitor to sleep the return to desktop just results in fuzz.

I have already updated all drivers along with the bios. Any help would be appreciated.

NUC5i5MYBE cannot enter MEBX after provisioning

$

I have a NUC5i5MYBE, which after provisioning using WS-Management, I can no longer enter the MEBX.

When I type ctrl-p during bios boot the screen just freezes with the Intel NUC logo showing:

NUC5i5MYBE mebx fail.jpg

Everything else about AMT seems to still be functional; I can still access the webui, and query the AMT bios via WS-Management.

For the most part I want to enter the MEBX so that I can perform a "Full Unprovision" which I can also achieve in a less subtle way (ie by shorting the bios reset jumper), but that is besides the point.

Has anybody else seen this problem? Is there a known workaround?

Intel NUC and Windows Home Server 2011

I bought Intel NUC D34010WYKH and tried to install Windows Home Server 2011. But the installation stopped when some devices were missing:

Other Devices

Ethernet Controller

PCI Simple Communications Controller

SM Bus Controller

Universal Serial BUS (USB) Controller

Unknown device

Now I can't yet install anything but first I need the controllers.  Home Server 2011 is based on Windows Server 2008 and sure there should be controllers for it.

Best regards

Hi all,

I want to connect a pcie card for capturing video (Blackmagic decklink mini recorder). I bought several adapter M.2 (keyB) to pcie.
The adapter is well detected in the bios and indicates that the pcie card is 1x (that's true it's an 1x pcie card) and max speed 2,5G.

On ubuntu the card is detected but i can't capture video and the nuc fails.

Do i have something to do ?

I don't understand why it's not working, so weird.

Boot problem! (Intel NUC5i7RYH )

Yesterday (Saturday) I've received the Intel NUC5i7RYH. After installing the SSD, Memory, OS and the necessary drivers (incl. latest BIOS) the NUC worked just fine.

Today (one day later) my NUC suddenly stopped working. My monitor won't recognise the mini displayport / mini HDMI anymore and the USB-connection  doesn't work either.

When I'm pressing the power-button, the screens stays off (black) and the NUC reboot itself within 30 seconds. After rebooting it's stays on for the rest of the time, without any signal.

It isn't even possible to enter the BIOS, because the screen stays black and the keyboard is not functioning. Is there anyone who can tell me how to solve this problem?

I use a Samsung 850 M.2 500GB SSD, Kingston SODIMM DDR3L-1866 kit 2x8GB hyperX Impact memory and Windows 7 Home Premium X64.

I've already tried to remove and reinstall the SSD and Memory modules.

Unsupported Compression Method - Trying to Install LAN Driver

Keep running into problems with this NUC5CPYH.  When I try to extract the files from latest LAN driver for this NUC I get "unsupported compression method".  If I download just the LAN driver or the bundled drivers, it is the same error on the LAN driver.  Anyone else come across this?

LAN: Realtek* LAN driver for Intel® NUC

Installs the LAN driver version 7.92.115.2015 for Intel® NUC products with the RealTek* Ethernet LAN controller.

OS: Windows 7, 64-bit*

Intel® Download Center

Just downloaded the latest versions of 7zip and WinZIp and neither would decompress the file.  Winzip says "Severe Error: Compressed data is invalid.".

NUC5i5MYHE does not recognize PCIe SSD

Hi,

I'm trying to use a PX-G256 M6e PCIe SSD in the M.2 2280 slot of a NUC5i5MYHE, but the BIOS does not recognize the SSD:

MYi50022.PCI.jpg

In another thread a user stated to successfully run a PX-G256 M6e in a NUC5i3MYHE with BIOS version 0028.

The latest BIOS version offered on Intels support page for the NUC5i5MYHE is 0022.

Does anyone successfully run a PCIe SSD in the NUC5i5MYHE?

If so, which model and with which version of the BIOS?

Thanks for any hints,

Michael

NUC i5 vPro problems

$

Hi there!

I just purchased an Intel NUC with the i5 ivy bridge chipset.  Specifically, DC53427HYE.  The most interesting aspect of this device to me is the Intel AMT feature.  I verified that this NUC has an Intel Core i5 3427U CPU, which, according to Ark, does in fact have vPro technology on board.

I have two problems so far.

First, entering the Intel MEBx configuration is *extremely* difficult.  I can get into the BIOS setup (F2), BIOS update (F7), and boot device selection (F10) quite easily.  But accessing the MEBx configuration via Ctrl-P is nearly impossible.  I have found that Ctrl-P works, about 1 in 100 times.  I've managed to get into MEBx a few times now.  It seems to be a very sensitive timing problem.

Secondly, when I have managed to get into MEBx, the default password does not work.  I have tried, "admin", "qd,in", and "P@ssw0rd".  None of these are accepted.  I have reset the BIOS/CMOS by closing jumpers 1 and 2 next to the memory modules, and tried "admin" and "qd,in" once again.  No luck.

I have updated the BIOS itself from the 4/25/2013 BIOS that it came with, to the 11/16/2013 version 0028.  Still no luck.

Please help?

DN2820fyh win7 installation - usb keyboard not working

apparently the win7 installation doesn't have usb 3 support? It got as far as the language entry screen for the installation cd and I couldn't use the keyboard and mouse any more. I had the keyboard plugged into a usb 3 nub connected to one of the back usb ports(not the front port). have flashed new bios 0051.

Can I try a different usb port or do I change bios settings to allow win7 to see the usb keyboard?

Nach dem Boot bleibt die Installation mit Windows wird geladen hängen.

Die Installation mit Windows 8 Embedded funktioniert auf der Maschine.

Hat jemand eine Idee?
