Hi,

My girlfriend was watching youtube when the computer blue screened and said it needed to restart. The computer shut off. I turned it on and couldn't get image on the screen. I reseated the ram and the sdd but it would still only stay on for about 20 seconds and shut off. The LED is solid, no blinking. This was after having it on for a few hours. Any recommendations on what to do next?

We have about 40 of the NUC6CAY computers that have a standard image applied to all of them.  I have 2 units that the SD Card will not be recognized either on start-up or if it is plugged in after starting up.

Please advise on any trouble-shooting ideas or is this possibly a hardware issue?

intel nuc7i3BNH no HDMI video or not audio on USBc

$

Hi all.

I am having a problem since I installed this NUC. It is running Windows 10, since the first boot it sometimes shows video through HDMI connector and some other times it doesn't.

I have updated to lastes BIOS, video and monitor drivers with no result. I bought a new HDMI cable and tried with some other I had near by.

Always same result, sometimes it boot fine and some other it doesn't shows any video. I have tried as well with an old NUC with miniHDMI connector and it works always, even when it boots without video I change cables to that other NUC and works.

Then I bought a USBc-HDMI cable and now things changed: I have video in POST boot but no video on Windows login screen. I detach and reattch USBc cable and video shows. BUT, with no sound on windows.

I have resintalled again Video and audio drivers, and some other pieces (Network, WIFI, SGX, everityng I found on Intel web).

Monitor is AOC E2275PWJ, and I have installed this driver as well. I have played around with some BIOS settings, like enabling HDMI CEC and setting default display port to USBc.

No results. As a resume:

- When connected to HDMI I have no video at all most of the times. I have to poweroff and power on until it shows video.

- when connected to USBc I have no video on windows login, I have to reattach USBc cable. No audio in this case.

thanks

NUC7i5BNH: No HDMI playback audio devices in Sound Control Panel, NUC hardware defect?

I want to play back audio via HDMI cable on the NETWORK STEREO RECEIVER Onkyo TX-L20D.

I had a look on this article "No Audio Through My HDMI Cable". But I didn't find any HDMI playback device in my sound control panel, even though the NUC and the Onkyo are connected via HDMI cable. This cable is working properly between the Onkyo and a TV screen.

I have already reinstalled the Intel display driver, here you can see an extract of the Detailed-System-Report.html.

Switching Sources on AV Receiver and NUC7CJYH

I have a new NUC7CJYH installed with Windows 10 that is having issues with my AV Receiver. Whenever I switch between different sources, the NUC7CJYH will cut-out (no video AND no audio). I have to either physically unplug and re-plug the HDMI cable, or restart the NUC. I have tried reinstalling the latest graphics driver, disabling ARC and CEC on both the TV and the AV Receiver. Please note that I can switch seamlessly between other sources - I can switch between my UHD Blu-ray player and Nvidia Shield TV. I have also swapped sources and different HDMI connections by switching around the HDMI cables between the NUC and other devices. I also updated the NUC BIOS as well. There's no firmware update for the AV Receiver. See below for models/specs:

- AV Receiver: Denon AVR-S530BT

- TV: Vizio P65-F1

- Other devices working with the AV Receiver: UHD Blu-ray player and Nvidia Shield TV

Any help would be appreciated!

NUC6i7KYK USB-C connected Monitor prevents computer from powering down

$

TLDR: There is an issue with Microsoft Windows that prevents the NUC from powering down.

I recently upgrade my Intel NUC6i7KYK (Skull Canyon) with some RAM, 2 SSDs and triple Monitors which required using the USB-C port for DP output. Everything works great, except that occasionally I noticed when powering down the computer, Windows would shutdown, monitors would go to sleep, but the NUC's power light and Fan would remain on. This would force me to hold down the power button in order to power it down. After some lengthy troubleshooting I narrowed it down to, this behavior would only occur when the Monitor was plugged in to the USB-C port. And yes, I searched Lycos and Netscape and there are no solid leads regarding this issue.

Hardware specs:

  • NUC6i7KYK
  • 2x 16GB Kingston HX421S13IB/16 RAM
  • 2x 250GB Samsung MZ-V6E250BW NVMe drives in RAID 0
  • 3x Dell U2412M monitors
  • various monitor cables and peripherals.

Shorten version of lengthy troubleshooting:

  1. Installed Windows 10 1709 and 1803 with latest Drivers and Firmwares.
  2. Disabled Windows fast startup power feature.
  3. Power drained the Computer and Power brick for 24hrs in several occasions.
  4. Swapped a bunch of parts (including RAM and SDD) and upgraded SSD firmwares.
  5. Swapped Peripherals when I noticed the USB-C port was the culprit.
  6. Tried USB-C/HDMI adapter with a HDMI/DVI cable, and USB-C/DVI cable.
  7. Tried different configurations in the BIOS regarding the USB ports and Thunderbolt controller.
  8. Threw Windows out the Window and installed Linux, works perfect! Problem solved.

Steps remaining to be troubleshooted:

  1. Perform further BIOS configurations but started to lose track of the combinations.
  2. Try a different monitor/cable combinations except that Linux fixed it.
  3. Try a USB-C device such as a harddrive.
  4. Have a professional Intel technician/developer look into the matter is what I'm hoping for.

In conclusion, I suspect this might be a Windows Driver issue, possibly some power control feature that is preventing the NUC from entering an S5 power state. I'm not a technician, but I hope this helps someone at Intel narrow it down.

PS. Thanks for fixing the other driver issue regarding the NIC, still waiting to try it because of this issue.

Unsuccessful POST attempt error

Maybe 25 percent of the time my NUC8I7HNK errors on POST:

BIOS has detected unsuccessful POST attempt(s).

Possible causes include recent changes to BIOS

Performance Options or recent hardware change.

Press 'Y' to enter Setup or 'N' to cancel and attempt

to boot with previous settings.

Pressing 'N' has always resulted in a successful boot.

I'm running BIOS version 0040 and drivers from Intel-NUC-Kit-NUC8i7HNK_Win10-64_Drivers.20180524. I tried setting the BIOS to default values, but no joy.

Any suggestions?

Server 2016 drivers for Intel Ethernet Connection I218-V (NIC)

I've searched but cannot see Server 2016 drivers for this model NIC. (Note they so show drivers under Server 2016 for I218-LM, but these don't work. I tried and they were not recognised by the drivers install program.)

This NIC is on an Intel NUC model.

Does anyone know if they exist somewhere, or other alternatives?

Geoff.

NUC7i5DNKE no UEFI boot

$

Have a new NUC7i5DNKE kit. Added a 8GB SODIMM and a Western Digital m.2 SSD. System boots up and the BIOS shows the SSD as being there. However, it doesn't show up as a boot drive under UEFI. I have read the other posts about enabling both UEFI and Legacy mode so software can be installed. That defeats the use of enabling Secure Boot. I have tried another m.2 SSD and the same thing happens. The SSD is recognized in the BIOS as being there, but doesn't show up as a boot drive under UEFI. It did this under BIOS 0032 so I upgraded to 0039 and the same thing happens.

The first time I set everything up I didn't notice the drive missing under UEFI. Windows 10 started the install but hung at 1%. Looking closer I then noticed the drive missing under UEFI boot. That's the behavior with just UEFI checked. If I check just Legacy the drive doesn't appear there either. I have to have both UEFI and Legacy checked. Then the drive shows up as a bootable drive but just under Legacy.

In the BIOS under Devices, SATA, the SSD shows up. Under PCIe the drive shows up and the M.2 box is checked. Funny thing is when I try to install the OS the first time the drive showed as a new drive with no partitions. When I checked the settings again and started the install the drive had 4 partitions. So something was working. It just hung at 1% for a couple of hours before I shut it down to start over.

SSD work in a NUC5.

So how do I get this NUC to recognize the drive as bootable under UEFI. Because frankly, right now, the device is worthless and I will have to find something else for the client.

Hello, I am getting a little frustrated and would like some help. I am completely 100% updated on all drivers and the BIOS for my machine (NUC6I5SYH).

I am connected from my Nuc to a Samsung 4k TV (NU7100).

I have Kodi on my machine, and all video runs completely 100% fine from Kodi. However, as soon as I start streaming video on Chrome or Edge, the screen starts flickering. If I close the browser, the screen flickering stops. I am also including the information from me running SSU.

Please help me figure out how to stream video on my browser over a 4k tv. Please.

Getting Rid of Realtek Audio

$

Uninstalling Realtek Audio only works until windows update decides to update it.........

This is a method that I found on the Net that works, Windows update does not show Realtek Audio anymore.

I'm not sure if this affects the sd card reader since I dont use it?

--------

Here's how to permanently get rid of the Realtek driver:

disable, disconnect or unplug any internet connection to prevent Windows from reinstalling the driver,

uninstall "Realtek High Definition Audio Driver" and restart to make sure it's gone,

go to C:\Program Files and create a new folder called "Realtek",

open the properties dialog, go to the "Security" tab and click on "Advanced",

click on "Change Permissions", then "Disable inheritance", and in the new dialog select "Remove all inherited permission from this object",

click on "OK" and "Yes" etc. to apply the changes.

Hello,

I have a problem because NUC7i5BNK has been damaged and replaced by intel for a new one. Unfortunately, the customer had installed the purchased windows 10pro OEM that does not want to activate.

I am a customer service provider and maintainer, how to get Windows activation? Nuc worked only one month. The damage was not caused by the user.

Why isn't it possible to disable the MicrofonArray in Bios of the NUC8i7HVK?

With other NUC's you have that Option...

Thanks in advance.

Screen sporadically becomes black on Intel NUC (NUC7i5BNH)

Another problem I noticed and which is very annoying is the screen sporadically becomes black for a second on my Intel NUC. It does not seem the graphic driver crashes as there is no error message by Windows and the screen is only black for a second or two – after that all is as before.

  • This behaviour only appears when I use both monitors. When I only use Monitor 1 I don't have this problem.
  • When I put a YouTube video into fullscreen on Monitor 2 (Google Chrome) the behaviour appears. When I move a Window from Monitor 1 over this fullscreen on Monitor 2 (e. g. Windows Task Manager) the behaviour is no longer present. When I change to fullscreen again so the Windows is minimized the screen sporadically becomes black again. That is very mysterious.

NUC 6i5SYK after wakeup, Mouse pointer loss

$

NUC 6i5SYK, BIOS 0065(1/5/2018)

Windows 10 Enterprise(Updated to latest)

Logitech USB wireless mouse(tested for 3 models, like M185, same results)

When NUC leave idle for serval hours, wake up from sleep,  mouse pointer loss. I tried replug USB receiver and the battery of the Mouse, no use.

But, USB keyboard is normal.

Reboot NUC, everything goes normal.

I guess, this is a BIOS or USB 3.0 Drivers problem? Sometimes, when CPU loads go high, the Mouse Pointer will stuck in moving.

audio device disappearing

All,

I've seen a few threads related to my issue but no solution that I found

https://communities.intel.com/thread/108325

https://communities.intel.com/message/453487#453487

I have exactly the same issue where audio device disappears when amplifier and/or TV is turned off. I have 2 new NUC7i5bnh with updated bios/drivers etc. And, I get the problem on 2 different setups (1 going to onkyo receiver; 1 going to Samsung TV directly). I can reboot the NUC as stated below. Or, I can disable then enable the sound device in device manager. This is better but still a pain.

Is there a solution here? This seems like a intel sound driver problem as I have another HTPC (using nVidia discrete card) that drives a similar Onkyo receiver and I never have this issue.

From 1st link above:

Using this as an HTPC for my mom.  Right now it's hooked up HDMI into her receiver, which then of course connects to her TV HDMI.  It works great, no problems, until she stops for the night and turns off her TV and Receiver.  When this happens, the NUC (Windows 10 x64) shows the speakers are disconnected.  Since the receiver is off, and the audio device is the HDMI, that makes sense.  The problem is it doesn't come back when everything gets turned back on.  We have to reboot the NUC to get it to recognize it again, and this gets annoying because it kills the VPN and I have to remote in and reconnect it and so on and so forth.  The audio device still shows up in device manager, but does NOT show up at all under playback devices, even as a disconnected device.  Any ideas?

NUC7i3BNH and disabling xhci

$
0
0

Hi there,

We have a bunch of NUC7i3BNH intended to be used in production for testing usb (2.0) devices. All NUCs run latest Ubuntu 16.04 LTS. When we connect a 49 port USB hub (which is a usb 2.0 hub) with about 40 devices connected to it, to a NUC, it "accepts" about 26 devices (+ a usb keyboard), creates devices in /dev/ as it should, but then complains:

[ 3867.140383] xhci_hcd 0000:00:14.0: Error while assigning device slot ID

[ 3867.142756] xhci_hcd 0000:00:14.0: Max number of devices this xHCI host supports is 64.

[ 3867.145013] usb 1-2.4.6-port2: couldn't allocate usb_device

So it seems we hit some sort of xHCI limitation. The solution I found on the internet is to disable xHCI mode in BIOS, so that linux would use slower eHCI mode/drivers, which support many more USB devices compared to xHCI. The problem is - there is no such option in BIOS.

I compiled a custom kernel (4.4.6) with disabled "xHCI HCD (USB 3.0) support" and left "EHCI HCD (USB 2.0) support" enabled, but NUC booted without any USB support at all, i.e. usb keyboard/mouse did not work, nor did the wired networking. Any solution to all this ?

Thanks.
