Does this cable/adapter even exist? Need a 2.5mm standard mobo USB 2.0 header from 20pin common IO header

$

Have a NUC8i7HNK and I am trying to install this in it:

Silverstone SST-ES02-USB Remote Switch Kit - Newegg.com

It plugs directly into a normal USB 2.0 header in a mobo. Obviously, the NUC isn't normal.. But it has internal USB 2.0.

I can't find it tho to save my life. All I found is the common IO adapter, giving 2 actual Ports (not headers) and for some reason a female (header?) connection

I just found this section, have a topic in general.. There and on tomshardware is lookin like I may need a custom cable

Is this a common thing on a NUC?

Is this something I should be concerned about?

support assistant keeps telling me i have a BIOS update available (BIOS Update [BNKBL357.86A])

i select it, it downloads, i choose install, it then starts and fails.

why is the support assistant offering an update that it can't install?

Latest version: 0071  Installed Version: 0063

i know the responses are going to be, download the offline file and update via USB, but why offer a method to update via the support assistant if it doesn't work?

Hello,

I have just bought NUC8i5BEK. Installed RAM & Disk.

Installed windows 10.

On idle state, cpu temperature about 37 degress, 0% CPU used.. and fan is still running.

It is not the highest speed, but i can hear ist very well.

I had tried to setup quite and even fanless mode in BIOS, but without success..

Can you please help?

This is kind of useless for me.

I have another (older) NUC at work, also with i5, bought half year ago.. and it is really quite.

Fan is running only on heavy load.

Thanks,

Lukas

Intel nuc CAYS after update from 0052 to 0056 bios problem with boot

Hi, after I upgrade my NUCCAYS from bios version 0052 to the latest version 0055 I have problems to boot via SD card or other external devices .

I tried to downgrade via recover solution and removing the yellow jumper on the motherboard in order to downgrade to my previous version of BIOS 0052 but  the result that I obtained  was  just a black screen with not change in the BIOS version..

I also tried to upgrade to the latest version 0056 and then tried to downgrade to the version 0052 but with the same result. it allowed me to downgrade only from version 0056 to the version 0055.

With the latest 2 version of bios I have lots of problem if I want boot from other device instead of eMMC , In order to boot with other device like SD i have to disable the internal eMMC.

Just to let you know I have an other NUC CAYS that fortunately I din't update the Bios and itis stil with the version 0052 and with it I had not problem at all

NUC8I5BEK cannot wake up after screen off

My NUC8I5BEK with INTEL 760P 256G SSD is connecting to Sony Tv as media center. However, once the screen off, i will never be able to wake it up by any means except to power it off and turn on again.

Here are what i did, but still cannot resolve this issue.

(1) Update all drivers and windows 10 update (1809)

(2) Disable deep sleep in BIOS

(3) 3 mins screen off

(4) never sleep

It is really annoying now as i have to set screenoff and sleep to "never"

Using the IR Receiver - how?

I have a Harmony Elite remote control and would like to use it to control certain Apps on my PC - a new NUC8i5BEH running W10 Pro.

My previous PC had a USB HP IR receiver that I added as an MCE and it worked great.

Can anybody tell me how to control the PC with this remote - what do I add the PC as - and do I add two devices - the PC and receiver?

EDIT:I'm starting to think it's broken.

It appears in Device Manager - as does a Microsoft eHome Infrared Tranceiver - but if I add a Device into the Harmony (Windows Media Center) it just does nothing.

Any way to test the thing?

NUC5i5MYHE UEFI PXE always boots IPv6 before IPv4

$

I have several NUC5i5MYHE running latest BIOS 0048.  When configured to do UEFI PXE boot, these NUCs always attempt to boot IPv6 ahead of IPv4.

Internal SATA controller is disabled in BIOS setup to force unit to do PXE boot.  Legacy boot is disabled & UEFI boot is enabled.  Secure boot is disabled.

After entering BIOS setup to put PXE IPv4 in front of PXE IPv6 then save & exit, the NUC still always boots IPv6 first.  Re-entering BIOS setup shows IPv6 sitting ahead of IPv4 again in the boot order.

This looks like a BIOS bug to me.

I'm looking to do UEFI PXE boot with IPv4 only, so PXE IPv6 needs to be either disabled or placed after PXE IPv4 in the boot order.

Intel please confirm whether this issue can be reproduced on your side.  Thanks.

NUC8i5BEH Problems with USB 3.0/ Kinect and HDMI

We just received the new NUC8i5BEH device, transitioning from the NUC7i5; there is clearly an improvement in performance, however we are currently having a few issues:

-We are working with the Microsoft Kinect V2 sensor; it worked fine for the first time, however after restarting the system it starts to show as connect/disconnect continuously, and in the Device Manager the Kinect also appears and disappears. We changed to high performance mode and switched off usb suspend, but still same behavior, just somethimes it works, but it is very random. Tried with 3 different kinects, with the NUC7i5 we use the same sensors and never had this problem.

-When switching on the device a second time, it boots up, however there is no video output. We have to disconnect and connect again the HDMI cable to make it recognize the screen. Which is not very convenient.

NUC 7i3DNHE Questions about connect eDP a Flat panel display through edp interface

I have a intel miniPC NUC7i3DNHE, and I want to connect  a LG Flat panel display through edp interface(LP156WF6-SPA1,which Is in the official recommendation list, http://compatibleproducts.intel.com/ProductDetails?EPMID=122498) .

Question 1: I connect them with the following line order:

eDP.pngLG LCD.png

NUC eDP line order                                                                                                       LG LP156WF6-SPA1 line order

line order01.png

                                              connectjion line order

but with this order, the flat panel display is no response when i power on the NUC.

Then I find the eDP_pin32(BL_ENABLE) and eDP_pin33(BL_PWM_DIM) are in the low level(0V), so I connect LCD_pin22/23 with eDP_pin25/26(high level 3.3V), and power on the NUC again. At this time, backlight of the flat panel display is work, but the display is still no signal.

so I hope someone tells me where the problem is?

Question 2: why my NUC bios items are less than the NUC TPS?

Because I cann't let the flat panel display work properly, I think maybe something wrong with the bios setting. But only 2 items about flat panel display in the bios-->Devices-->Video.(right part of the pic)

IMG_20181001_184655.jpg

in the TPS, page 24/25, there are 5 items.

bios eDP.png

I guess Maybe the bios  hides the relevant settings automatically, becaues NUC failed to recognize display.

But how can i let the NUC recognize LP156WF6-SPA1?

LP156WF6-SPA1 Is in the official recommendation list, why bios cann't recognize it?

NUC7i3BNK Bios 0071 Update Fails

Here we go again.
A new version of Bios and the same problem as the previous update to version 0070: the update fails with both the Intel DSA and the NUC Bios:

Will we be forced back to the recovery procedure suggested by Leon for the transition to the 0070 version?

From now on will this be the case for all the updates of the Bios of this NUC family?

An answer from INTEL would be welcome

Recently, I bought a nuc7i5BNH, installed windows10 home CD, installed all of the drivers, (I think), but I could not update the bios from your website (tried 3 times) from version 0062 to 0070 (got a "bios failed" message). The O/S starts up okbut, when I run the nuc7i5BNH thru it's paces - Also, sometimes when listening to music I get 2 to 5 periodic piano/bell type sounds thru headphones or speakers. Why?

Why? is the question.

Thanks, I await your reply(s).

NUC7PJYH: BSODs and hangs after BIOS update - 45 and 46

$

The first BSOD (KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED) happened soon after BIOS update from 44 to 45.

After updating to 46 they became quite frequent. The last one said "SYSTEM_SERVICE-EXCEPTION".  Sometimes the PC just hangs typically, while in browser.  Once it hang at "Welcome" screen.

Before updating to 45 the system was rock solid.

Has anyone else experienced such problems after updating the BIOS?

Thanks,   Peter

Intel NUC7I3BNH does not accept DHCP offer during PXE boot

$

So I am a bit confused right now since I am pretty sure I asked this question yesterday but can no longer find any trace of it.... So I'm asking it again.

We recently bought a NUC7I3BNH to test out as a replacement for our current fleet of clients. During the test we unfortunately noticed that it will not PXE boot because it does not acknowledge the DHCP offer of the DHCP server. IPV4 DHCP that is. We have not tested IPV6 DHCP since that network is not set up for that. The problem is there for both UEFI and Legacy PXE boot.

It is certainly not an issue of the port the NUC is connected on, as a different PC on the same port works fine for PXE boot and there is no STP or Portfast involved. Also the DHCP request does go through to the server and the offer does get sent out, but it never gets acknowledged by the NUC for some reason. I have attached the edited down packet trace for the DHCP request/offer process which is repeated multiple times by the NUC since it apparently never ACKs any of the offers. The NUC does successfully acquire an IP adress if you install a local OS onto it and boot into that, so the device does not appear to be faulty. The bios is also at the current available latest version.

I'd be happy for any sort of advice.

NUC7PJYH - No signal on Samsung 4K TV when HDMI UHD Color is ON

$

When I turn on "HDMI UHD Color" for the input to which the NUC is connected, TV says "No Signal".  HDMI UHD Color is needed for 3840x2160 @ 60Hz with 4:4:4 chroma and presumably configures the HDMI port as 2.0. When the PC boots - no splash screen, no BIOS (after pressing F2).

If "HDMI UHD Color" is OFF, everything is fine, splash screen appears, and then BIOS (if I press F2). TV reports 3840x2160 @ 30Hz and the splash screen is apparently in 4K.

Similarly, in windows. When I switch to 60Hz (with "HDMI UHD Color" ON) I get black screen and then "No signal".

It looks like when the HDMI port on the TV is configured as 2.0, NUC sends it something, which the TV does not understand.

TV:  Samsung UE40MU6100 (similar US version: UN40MU6300).

Cable: AmazonBasics High-Speed HDMI Cable, 6 Feet or 3 feet - Meets the latest HDMI standards (4K Video at 60 Hz, 2160p, 48 bit/px color depth); supports bandwidth up to 18Gbps.

Thanks

Specify the day when DSA checkcs for new Drivers?

Hi all,

Is there a way to determine the day Intels DSA checks for new drivers?

I only find the possibility to set the frequency in my settings (never, daily, weekly, monthly),
but I don't have any information WHEN the day X is.

I would like to check monthly, but on a fixed day, always on the first day of each month for my NUC8i5,
while I would like to check a second system (NUC6CAYS) on the 15th of each month.

Is there any "hidden" setting possibility for this

or is there perhaps a way to run the check using the Windows task scheduler?

Thunderbolt HDR NUC7i5BNH

I'm testing connecting My 4K HDR10 capable TV to Thunderbolt USBC port using this cable from Amazon:

Cable Matters USB C to HDTV Cable Supporting 4K 60Hz in Black 9.8 Feet - Thunderbolt 3 Port Compatible for Macbook Pro, Dell XPS 13/15, HP Spectre x360, Surface Book 2 and More

3840 and 4096 by 2160 at 60 HZ works perfectly using the above cable.

Problem is that I get no option to enable HDR in Windows 10(win insider build 18282). Using a straight HDMI cable doing HDMI to HDMI I do get the HDR option.

I have tried both the current graphics driver and the latest 6373 and there is no difference in behavior, Bios and all other drivers are the latest version.

I also have installed the 33 upgrade to thunderbolt. It's not a huge issue since there is not a lot of HDR stuff out there and I can use a straight HDMI connection.

I'm just curious if I'm missing something obvious and if someone else has got HDR to work on the TB Port.

Wake-From-Sleep Rebooting Issue is back!

$

My original NUC NUC8i7HVK was crashing and rebooting every time I attempted to wake it up. Otherwise it ran fine. Intel ended up sending me a replacement which had the .037 version BIOS. The replacement unit woke up normally until I upgraded the BIOS to .051 (latest). No other changes-just the BIOS upgrade. I did the upgrade because when the unit went to sleep, the red drive LED would remain on solid. Now after the upgrade, the LED is behaving but the same crashing-on-wakeup problem is occurring again! What is it with these flaky BIOSes???
