Intel D34010WYK not handling Ethernet properly during Windows 10 boot?

$

0

I've got a 34010 NUC that won't quite boot properly with a wired Ethernet connection while running Windows 10.

There's something "not right" about how the driver for the built-in wired network is making it's connections.  This machine has been using the same hardware setup for quite a while.  It was only recently that it started not properly establishing a network connection.  The symptom is it won't get a DHCP lease.  But configuring it with a static address doesn't help either.  That also fails.

What seems to solve the problem is to physically disconnect the connection from the NUC, wait 10 seconds or so, and then plug it back in again.

What's changed has been the installation of Windows 10 on it.  I've run the Intel driver updater and it's reporting the 20.1 Ethernet driver.

Anyone else run into this kind of problem?

Hi,

Yesterday I have been updated my Intel NUC D34010WYK from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10 and I had a problem with network adapter. System didnt find any adapter on system. So I have been updated my NUC with latest BIOS and other drivers (Chipset, etc.), but still the same problem. When I was trying Install new LAN drivers for windows 10, I saw window with error No Intel adapters present in computer.

So I´m back in Windows 8.1 again and all working.

New NUC5i5RYH, not detecting TV/receiver!

Hello,

I have a brand new NUC5i5RYH where I installed new windows 8.1 and all newest intel drivers from their site. It works fine with mini-HDMI adapter to HDMI cable onto a computer monitor but when I try to connect to either my TV or reciever they will not recognize that anything is connected.. The TV's are Samsung 65" LED smart 2013 and Samsung 75" LED 2014 models. The recievers I have tried is Bose V35 and Bose V30. All with different cables and everything. Even the cable that works with the monitor does not work with either TVs/recievers.

So pretty annoying since it is supposed to be a HTPC.. What could possibly be done to fix this?

NUC5i5RYH noisy CPU/GPU? (not the FAN)

Can someone tell me if this is expected behavior from the NUC or if I need to return my unit for exchange?

My NUC5i5RYH is located in a fairly quiet room. I have installed Windows 10 with all the latest drivers provided by Windows update. The machine has now been running for a little over a week without any major fault. The NUC runs 2 screens, 1 is a 4k@60hz via mDP, the other is 1680*1050@60Hz.

I have been installing over the past week a few more apps on the machine, some of which are a little more demanding from a CPU/GPU point of view. I have noticed that when running an app such as Flipboard on the 4k screen (and only on the 4k screen) if I "flip" through a full page (such as the cover/landing page) the NUC will make a high pitched noise only during that period of higher demand. I am very certain that the supply power is not at fault as I have placed at full cable length away from the NUC. This issue is also present when I scroll through folder of pictures on my hard drive.

I have recorded and posted below a video where I have recorded this noise. YOu can hear it twice as I scroll (off screen) between flipboard pages. And no, there aren't any speakers connected to the NUC.

Intel NUC and Windows Home Server 2011

I bought Intel NUC D34010WYKH and tried to install Windows Home Server 2011. But the installation stopped when some devices were missing:

Other Devices

Ethernet Controller

PCI Simple Communications Controller

SM Bus Controller

Universal Serial BUS (USB) Controller

Unknown device

Now I can't yet install anything but first I need the controllers.  Home Server 2011 is based on Windows Server 2008 and sure there should be controllers for it.

DE3815TYKE (Atom) Linux reboot freezes box

Dear all,

our issue is quite simple: the NUC often hangs and freezes if we want to reboot it.

Facts:

7 NUCs from three different Shops tested (three different S/N groups)

RAM: Kingston KVR16LS11S6/2 2GB DDR3L SO-DIMM

Storage: Internal MMC Flash

OS: we tried OpenELEC, ArchLinux, Fedora 20

BIOS: 0032, 0034, 0036

BIOS Settings: all different settings tried. Static settings were: Legacy boot enabled, eMMC enabled, OS Linux.

What's wrong in detail:

If we issue a reboot command on the box, it shuts down X-Server, shuts down all Task, etc. (Serial console debugging has finished too!) and when the kernel tries to reboot the box may hang.

Yesterday we had 3 NUCs in a loop-reboot (reboot every minute) during the night. All three boxes rebooted as they should. I then took one box, applied another BIOS settings => hang!

I removed that bios setting again => still hangs every time (although it was working the whole night... ).

We tried different BIOS versions and settings. We tried different linux reboot commands: even the most brutal force-reboot hangs

One of that seven boxes seem to definitely broken, as it refuses all BIOS updates, but all seven?

What can we exclude so far:

* different linux distros and kernels. We tried many! Kernels from 3.16.3 up to 3.17.2

* BIOS settings like EX Prevention Disable, Power settings

* BIOS versions

What really drives me crazy is that it seem only we got this issue, no other findings here or on Google.

Currently a coworker is trying to get different RAM modules (we only have 1,5V ones here and they definitely do not work), because this is my last "hope" as all seven NUCs uses the same RAM model.

Any ideas from the community?

Thanks in advance ;-)

PS: Yes, we also tried all the HowTos and Guides from the Intel support pages

D54250WYKH - Display Port chained displays sleep/hang issues

Hi,

before I start digging in system settings -

I have two displays in DP chain connected to the NUC - Dell U2713H as first display and Dell U2711 as the last display in the chain - both displays work perfectly with full resolution on HD5000,

until they go to sleep, after that it's impossible to turn them back on, both displays show only factory power management messages.

I have turned off system sleep in W8.1 on the NUC, displays only can may go to sleep after 15 minutes of inactivity, but still the behaviour is extremely annoying as stated above.

The only way to get displays working again is to power cycle NUC - power-cycling main display (unplugging/plugging power cable from/to the socket)

- has anyone had this experience before?

Such behaviour makes using NUC with two DP chained displays very hard.

NUC5CPYH - Blue Screen of Death with Win7 USB Boot

Trying to load Windows 7 (have tried Home Premium and Ultimate) using a Cruzer Fit USB stick that has worked fine on my other NUCs.  This is my 4th NUC and the first one I've had trouble with.  I get the windows splash screen then a short black screen and then BSD.  I read in other threads where I needed to include the USB3 drivers in the boot.wim but that didn't seem to help either.  Does anyone have suggestions?

What's with Intel NUC and Bluetooth Keyboards/Mice?

$

Ok, so I have spent the better part of today reading all the threads about Bluetooth connecting to mice and keyboards but not actually functioning.  That lead me to several hours of uninstalling, installing, reinstalling, and trying to get several items to work but none do.  Sounds like this is a major issue that's just not getting resolved for something that's seemingly foolproof.

Brand new NUC5i7RYH containing an Intel 7265 radio with fully updated W7-64 SP1, updated BIOS and drivers along with brand new Logitech K810 Bluetooth keyboard and Logitech M557 Bluetooth mouse.  The Bluetooth radio is on and working, I can pair the two devices and Windows sees them.  So does the Logitech SetPoint software and it tells me the batteries are full.  So everything seems right but neither device actually functions.

The keyboard has a row of function keys and SOME work.  The volume up and down, the calculator button and the Home key (brings up the default browser) all actually work so I know the keyboard is connected and recognized but not one other key functions.  Can't type, use the Windows key, CTRL-ALT-DEL, etc.  On the mouse, nothing works.  Both devices on/off buttons connect and disconnect the devices as I can see them appear and reappear in Device Manager.  I've paired and repaired many times with many different drivers (ones I could find that did not result in a 404 not found...) but nothing....

I also tried with a Logitech MX5000 Bluetooth keyboard and the same thing happens with it.  All three devices connect to Android devices just fine (Droid Turbo, Droid Razr Maxx, Samsung Galaxy Tab S and Asus MemoPad HD) so I know the devices function.

What's wrong with the NUC line?  Is this a NUC and 64-bit Windows issue?  Should I install W7 32 bit instead?  Is this radio bad?  Very frustrating especially after reading through these threads and working through several drivers and settings as suggested.  That was a lot of work to do with no resolution.

Without a functioning Bluetooth keyboard/mouse, using this as an HTPC just won't work.

Anyone have a real solution here?  Intel?

D54250WYK 'headless' issue?

So I just recently received one of these new machines.

Overall I'm impressed but one thing I've noticed is that when no connected display is active - for example if the display port goes into a HDMI switch box which is switched to a different input - I cannot log into the NUC via VNC. Or more precisely, I can but I get a black screen. As soon as switch the display on/make the NUC the active input to the HDMI switch then VNC works fine. I'm using TightVNC on the NUC and I my client is Remotix, which I've tried from both iOS and OS X.

This is inferior to the first gen NUC where even if there was nothing active on the HDMI port you could still log in using VNC and the display would be labelled as 'Generic PnP Monitor'.

Is there anything I can do in software by way of configuration that could make the new NUC behave like the old one in this respect?

Or have I got to now faff about with EDID emulators and use the mini HDMI port instead of the mini DP?

D54250WYKH and HDMI to VGA cable (analog)

I've just bought a mini HDMI to VGA cable online for my D54250WYKH NUC since I need to connected it to a VGA monitor.

However, I've just seen this cable only works with a "device which output properties can be changed to analog VGA Video through HDMI output port". Is that something that's supported, or it just won't work with that NUC? Thanks!

NUC5i3RYH Video Problem

This is actually my fifth NUC and I've come across a problem that I can't solve.  My NUC is connected to a Yamaha RX-V677 vir HDMI with the latest code in it (1.50) which is then connected to a projector.  At what seems like at random times, the screen will turn into something that looks like a green/yellow negative of the actual picture on the screen.  It happens with movies and navigating screens while not playing movies o r I may get to watch a whole movie with no interruptions. If I power cycle the reciever when it happens, it comes back fine.  These are the things I have tried.

  • Win7K Windows Media Center - no change
  • Win7K Plex - no change
  • Ubuntu Kodi 14 - no change
  • Ubuntu Kodi 15 - no change
  • Openelec - no change
  • Upgrade to latest drivers and BIOS - no change
  • Upgraded the firmware on my Yamaha receover - no change.
  • Put my other NUC D34010WYKH in its place for a few days - works fine

Do I have a dud or is there something else going on?

NUC5PPYH fan spikes to max without reason and no network in Visual BIOS

$

Hello,

I have installed my NUC5PPYH with OpenElec on a SATA SSD and altered the fan settings in the Visual BIOS. What happens is that randomly (every few minutes) the fan peaks to the max rpm for about 5-10 seconds and then returns to the level it should be. This behaviour is also displayed when in Visual BIOS as shown in attached screenshots. What you see there is that I set my base speed to 0% and only want the fan to go on in steps of 10% when above 65 degrees celsius. The screenshots have been taken shortly after eachother.

The second issue is the message "Network Disconnected" in the bottom left corner of the screen when in Visual BIOS. How do I configure the network adapter? Cable is plugged in and is working when Openelec is booted (DHCP). Now I can't check for BIOS updates when in Visual BIOS.

Daisy Chain Monitors Display Problem on Wake

I have a NUC5i5RYK running windows 8.1 pro with all the latest drivers and bios 0249.  When the computer wakes up from sleep from Intel Ready Mode Technology mode, the display of one of my monitors is often garbled and flashes between the desktop and password input screen.  The way to fix it is by either turning the monitor off, then back on, or rebooting the computer.  It's very annoying.  The monitor is connected via mini DP and the other one is daisy chained via DP.  The monitors are Dell U2415 running 1920x1200.  Anyone else have issues with this?  Anybody know a fix?  I'm confident it isn't a monitor issue since the issue appears with more than one monitor.  Thanks.

No display port output with NUC5i7RYH.

I have a NUC5i7RYH running Windows 7 64-bit. The system runs fine with a mini HDMI to HDMI cable on my Dell U2410. I would like to connect the Dell monitor to the mini display port but have been unable to make that work with 2 different mini display port to display port cables. I have changed the BIOS video setting to auto, display port only and display port primary with no luck. With the display port connected the monitor will wake up briefly but I get no video out at all. No BIOS splash or POST. Monitor reports no input signal and just goes back to sleep. I have a second U2410 and would like to run a dual monitor setup.
