No Serialnumber in BIOS on Intel NUC
Hi there.
We have bought a Intel NUC kit, but the serialnumber is missing in the BIOS, so our asset manegment system is complaining :-(
Is it an error or by design that the serielnumber is missing in the BIOS?
And if it is by design, is there a way to enter the serialnumber in the BIOS?

NUC, ubuntu 15, spontaneous reboots
We are using several, 7, NUCs as support stations running Ubuntu 15. Currently 2 or 3 of those are bothered by daily spontaneous reboots. The others are not.
The NUCs run nothing special, just Chrome and Firefox and are equipped with proper 4GB RAM, Kingston 30GB SSD and HDMI screens, about as vanilla as can be.
The BIOS'es are all up to date, latest version, 041 for D34010WYK, we have no idea why this is happening. Anything known about spontaneous reboots?

NUC6i3 can't stay powered down using openelec
Hi,
I'm having some problems when I try to shut down the system via kodi.
After the shut down process, it seems that the NUC is offline (without any lights), but after a few seconds it comes back on (light seems to appear) but the screen is black. It's like its having an issue with staying powered down.
Only by pressing the on/off button for ten second close the NUC completly.
I understand that it's a bios configuration problem.
Any help configuring it will be much appriciated.
Thanks,
How to get NUC5CPYH passthrough DTS-HD, Dolby TrueHD Audio?
I am using NUC5CPYH with Windows 8.1 and the latest Intel graphic driver, but it cannot passthrough DTS-HD and Dolby TrueHD audio via HDMI to my AV receiver on any programs.
So, are there any ways to get NUC5CPYH passthrough DTS-HD, Dolby TrueHD Audio?
NUC6i5SYH erratic fan behavior
I got a nice new NUC6i5SYH and have noticed erratic fan control behavior. The first thing I did before setting up the OS was update to BIOS 033, so I already have the latest version. I usually use Arch Linux (currently kernel 4.3.3), but also have a Windows 10 partition for gaming. I noticed that sometimes after power on or reboot (i.e. during BIOS initialization) the fan would stop completely and would remain in that state, no matter what happens to the temperatures. This is very dangerous as the CPU (and memory, PCH, mainboard) gets extremely hot. I only noticed this because I started a game and the game suddenly was very sluggish. This means thermal protection kicked in and throttled the CPU. I then noticed the fan was not moving at all. A reboot brought it back and because of the high temperatures it started with a very high RPM and noise. After that I noticed it several times already. This happens sometimes after reboot or after powering on from S5 and already happens during BIOS initialization, i.e. even if stuck in the grub boot menu (e.g.) the fan is not running at all (even though minimum duty cycle is configured to 35%).
At one other time (so far) the fan was initialized to a very high (max?) speed during BIOS initialization following a reboot and remained there until the next reboot.
Also, why does the firmware not notice that the fan is not moving at all and display warnings, beeps etc.? Why isn't there at least a thermal shutdown initiated once the CPU reached Tjunction (which it did!)?
Finally, I hope that these fanless episodes didn't harm the board or CPU. PCH, memory, CPU all got extremely hot (CPU > 100C, memory >70C).
Edit:
Note that the fan never stopped (if it was running initially) once the OS was booted. So this seems to be an error in fan control initialization during POST. If this is done correctly, the fan behaves normal during the whole OS usage. But if it fails, the fan runs either at some very high (max?) speed or not at all, independent of any temperature readings and does not return to normal operation until the next boot.
Does the NUC6i5SYH support dual 1440p monitors at 60Hz?
I have a pair of Viewsonic VP2770 monitors, which are 27" 1440p monitors, that I would like to use with the NUC6i5SYH. The machine will just be doing basic office tasks, video playback, and a little numerical computation - i.e. no gaming, no graphics-intensive tasks. Can I run both of them in a dual monitor setup at 60Hz refresh rate?
I know the ports of the NUC6i5SYH separately can support 1440p@60Hz, but I don't know if performance will be bad with two monitors, or if there is some technical reason that it can't do both at once. Does anyone know?
5i3RYH with 12v ?
you can feed the model 5i3RYH with 12v ? If so, I have to set something ?
Copy BIOS configuration to several DC53427HYE
Are there any way to copy BIOS configuration to several other boxes?
nuc5i3myhe gigabit ethernet not working
Hello,
I've brought a NUC5i3MYHE some time ago (less than one year), and everything seems to be working fine, I've used it with both FreeBSD and Linux without problems. However I've realized that neither FreeBSD nor Linux are able to connect to the network using gigabit rates, I always get the automatic media selection set to 100baseTX. I've tried with several cables of several different lengths (from 20cm to 3m) and several categories (CAT5E and CAT6), to no effect, I always get the media set to 100baseTX. I've also tried forcing the media to 1000baseTX using ethtool on Linux and ifconfig on FreeBSD, but then the connection just drops and the card reports that there's no carrier. Regarding the switches/routers, I've tried with Cisco, Linksys and Netgear Gigabit switches/routers, but I only get 100baseTX. I've also updated my BIOS to the latest version (34).
There's also something slightly weird, if I got into the network card BIOS options (by pressing F2 on boot, and then going to Devices -> Add-in Config and pressing Configure) and select "NIC configuration" I can only select 10 or 100MBps speeds, 1000MBps is not even there. I'm attaching a photo to show this:
Image may be NSFW.

The UEFI NIC driver version reported on the Main Configuration Page of the NIC firmware is 6.1.16, not sure if this matters much TBH. I can also provide the Linux/FreeBSD kernel dmesg if relevant.
Thanks, Roger.
How to unlink IR Codes from Windows Media Center
Hi,
I have a harmony ultimate remote and when installing windows 7 and CIR drivers on my NUC6i3SYH the remote works directly with Windows Media Center (MCE).
How are the IR Codes tied directly to MCE? Windows Media Center has hokeys but how are the IR codes tied to these hotkeys? Are they built into the CIR driver? Are they built into Windows?
I don't wont to use MCE. I'm trying to setup the nuc as my main plex client but alot of the remote keys (DVR, LiveTV, Record TV, etc) fire up MCE which is undesired. I can disable MCEaltogether, but i was wondering how these work and if possible to untie them from MCE.

Does anyone have a NUC 6 (Skylake) which is working 100%?
I'm getting a bit worried after having such severe errors myself, and reading about others here, so I'm wondering if anyone has a NUC 6 that is fully working as intended. If you have a system running without crashes, freezes or non-working components, please share the following information:
- Your NUC model and for how long you've had it.
- BIOS version, and if you have any settings different from the default.
- Memory configuration: 1 or 2 sticks, size(s), manufacturer and model number.
- Persistent storage (hard drive, SD card etc. you're running your OS from). Manufacturer, SSD/mechanical, size and model number.
- Attached USB devices: Which ports are you using and any relevant information about the device(s).
- Network connection: Ethernet or Wifi.
- Operating system: Version, method of installation (from USB stick or other?), any drivers you had to install to fix previous errors.
Thanks in advance.

NUC6i5SYH Windows 7 x64 install USB3 stops working at Windows Setup Screen
Windows 7 Pro x64 USB stops working when I get to the Windows 7 Setup Screen (where you set the user name). I can't use the mouse or keyboard.
I used the Windows 7 USB 3.0 creator utility.
I tried to a Windows 7 System Recovery Options to Load Drivers (USB_3.0_Win7_64_4.0.2.42) and install the three setup information files: HCSwitch and Win7. HCSwitch failed but the Win7 succeeded.
Any thoughts to how to fix this?
Thanks...
NUC5i7RYB MAX POWER SUPPLY VOLTAGE
Hello,
On some other questions on the form, it was confirmed the NUCs will run on 12 to 24 Volts via internal header. It is not clear whether the 5i7RYb will.
Could you please confirm?
Thanks in advance,
CC
USB Headset won't work.
I'm using iMicro SP-IM320 microphone/headset in my NUC D34010WYK. The installed operating system is Kubuntu 14. Speakers or headphones plugged into the regular speaker jack work fine. The headset/mike work fine also, as I've tried them in another computer. It seems as if the computer just doesn't recognize the headset. The USB ports are working, as I use flash drives in them all the time.
NUC USB firmware write locked (BAD-USB) ?
Is the NUC line of products susceptible to firmware writes from BAD-USB sticks or other vectors for the same problem
I'm having a problem thats spread though my NUC machines via USB sticks during Debian installs, and also transferred from tainted usb sticks during regular use. I've disposed of a lot of USB sticks and am worried my NUC's are permanently infected with this dam USB bad firmware virus/malware
Thanks
Does anyone know if a NUC works satisfactorily in a car? Thanks
Is the NUC a durable enough piece of hardware to work in an automobile?
Nuc6i3syh went to sleep and won't power on (windows10)
Came home tonight unable to wake the nuc. Blue light was on and solid. Powered it off by holding the power button and attempted to turn it back on. Blue light and Ethernet lights came on but nothing on HDMI or edp. Tried pulling the bios pin and then reseating memory but neither had any effect.
Running bios 28
Any ideas?
Boot wait time NUC6i5SYH
Hello,
My Config first:
NUC6i5SYH
2 * 8GB Kingston HyperX (KHX2133C13S4/8G)
M2.Sata Samsung SSD 950 512GB
Seagate 1TB Hybrid ST1000LM014
Windows 10 Pro build 1511
My questions:
- M2.Sata drive not recognized in BIOS (Works well though)
- Long wait time at boot app. 10-15 seconds wait on NUC logo and boot options screen. I like to speed this up. How to do this.
- What is the function of changing the minimum IGD memory size and maximux Aperture size. Tested it with 3Dmark but did not notice a difference.
- What is the best (SAFE) way to improve gaming performance (is this done in the bios)
Question two is the most annoying factor.
Windows install crashes every time--it's got to be me
Hello. I have the BOXNUC6I5SYK (new 6th generation) and have installed 8GB (2x4) of Corsair RAM (CMSO8GX4M1A2133C15) and the m.2 Samsung 250GB SSD. I am trying to install Windows 10 from a bootable USB. Everything boots fine, I get to the part where I select the partition to install on, on the next screen the countdown begins and every single time, Windows crashes with a BSOD during the progress bar. The error message varies, but this time the error was CACHE_MANAGER. Last time it was MEMORY_MANAGEMENT. The only thing consistent is that I can't get past this screen without a BSOD.
I have tried the install with two different SSDs, two different NUCs, and with only one memory chip (I have tried both chips separately). I have tried the install with different USB drives and different versions of Windows (I tried both Windows 8 and 8.1). Obviously, it's got to be me. I have installed several older generation NUCs with no problem at all. Can you tell me if there are any tricks to installing Windows on the new NUCs? I am completely lost with this problem.
