Using a RC6 ir remote to power on NUC7i3BNK

Hi, in one of the posts here i saw that a RC6 ir remote can be used to power on (and off) a NUC. RC6 remotes are easy to find and it would be great to be able to use it as a remote for my NUC7i3BNK. How do these devices sync with eachother? And i saw something about settings in BIOS?

NUC8i7HVK trying to RAID 2 800P SSDs

I have BIOS 0040 installed.

I am attempting to RAID 2 800P SSDs and I am getting some kind of bug in the BIOS. This is what I get in the 3 ways I can configure M.2.

As you can see when attempting to remap these drives to RST M.2 drive #2 does not do so correctly.

I have already swapped drive positions and M.2 #2 still will not remap.

SMBIOS Information Not Displaying in Windows 10

Hello,

I recently started deploying around a dozen NUC's and I am running into an issue. Due to asset and imaging requirements, we require the SMBIOS to be filled out with the serial number, manufacture and internal asset tag. Before you say you have to use tha ITK to push this data in.. I know.

IMG_1577.JPG

You can see in the image above I have configured the SMBIOS settings the way we need them to be configured. Once this was complete I deployed our image and notice the drivers' injection script was very fast. So I logged into the machine once the image was deployed and noticed that I was unable to get the information required from the command prompt.

BIOS issue.PNG

I have since reflashed the bios and even reset the SMBIOS settings and I am still unable to get this to work on 4 of my devices, some were working on previous BIOS version and are no longer on the latest.

I have about 5x NUC6i3SYK's and 8x NUC7i3BNK's ALL on their respective latest bios firmware. Some work some don't in both types. Most are imaged to UEFI windows 10 64bit using the same base image. We have 3 with a Windows 7 Image (Same Base)

You can see from he above I have 3 stuck at the top and then the 3rd one in the second section I made a type and I am unable to correct it in the model number field.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

BOXNUC7I5BNH loses BIOS seetings

My 7th Gen NUC does not retain BIOS boot settings when unplugged.

Any time I unplug my NUC it losses detection of the M.2 SSD and boot priority settings.

I have to restart once to get it to recognize the m.2, then enter boot settings and change it to boot from the M.2.

Is this just how it is, or can I fix it somehow?

NUC8I7HVK AMD Radeon driver unusable

Just got a new NUC8I7HVK. I installed every driver and the last one is the AMD Radeon driver downloaded from the NUC support page.

While installing, the screen goes black and then starts flickering, maybe once each 2 seconds. After rebooting, the flickering continues. The driver is absolutely unusable. Upon uninstalling the driver (between the flickers), everything goes back to normal, but I'm stich with the generic VGA driver. I'm connected via an HDMI cable.

Tried upgrading BIOS to latest version 40 and resetting bios to defaults, but the problem persists.

Windows 10 Pro not activated yet (problems getting activation from old NUC). All Windows updates done. Windows version 1803.

I'm a bit disappointed right now. Anyone can help?

actual nuc5cpyh not boot from sd, older can

Hi all,

in 04 Feb 2016 I bought a NUC5CPYH. From the beginning it boots from SD an Ubuntu without any other storage. Days ago, the device dies i don't know why, it runs for a few minuts and then nothing. Well, it has been working fine so i decide to buy the same model again, plug the memory, the SD and try to boot. It shows the typical message that can't find a bootable device. No problem, i get into the BIOS and ... i can't see the SD card in any option. The broken NUC5CPYH comes with the Visualbios 2.2.16  and the new one with the 2.2.20 version. Then, need i to do a downgrade to get the SD boot option?

Intel NUC7i3DNH - COM port not working?

Hello, we have two of these NUCs. We placed board from the first one to Akasa passive case A-NUC39-M1B (Plato X7D). This case comes with COM port cable (see attachment). COM is enabled in BIOS (bios v40) and visible as COM1 in Windows 10 1703. But no communication goes through. We checked that Akasa cable with tester (acoustic pin tester) and cable is OK.  We then tried second board and still no luck - it's the same. Intel, can you check it is working on your test units, please? It seems unlikely to me that we got bad luck wit two boards.

NUC7I5BNH Thunderbolt to HDMI, NO VIDEO OUTPUT

NUC7PJYH - No signal on Samsung 4K TV when HDMI UHD Color is ON

$

When I turn on "HDMI UHD Color" for the input to which the NUC is connected, TV says "No Signal".  HDMI UHD Color is needed for 3840x2160 @ 60Hz with 4:4:4 chroma and presumably configures the HDMI port as 2.0. When the PC boots - no splash screen, no BIOS (after pressing F2).

If "HDMI UHD Color" is OFF, everything is fine, splash screen appears, and then BIOS (if I press F2). TV reports 3840x2160 @ 30Hz and the splash screen is apparently in 4K.

Similarly, in windows. When I switch to 60Hz (with "HDMI UHD Color" ON) I get black screen and then "No signal".

It looks like when the HDMI port on the TV is configured as 2.0, NUC sends it something, which the TV does not understand.

TV:  Samsung UE40MU6100 (similar US version: UN40MU6300).

Cable: AmazonBasics High-Speed HDMI Cable, 6 Feet or 3 feet - Meets the latest HDMI standards (4K Video at 60 Hz, 2160p, 48 bit/px color depth); supports bandwidth up to 18Gbps.

Thanks

NUC5i3RYH 3 blinks, won't boot

Hello

My NUC stopped booting and the screen stays black.

The blue power led blinks 3 times, which seems to indicate a RAM issue (it used to work just fine).

I swapped the RAM stick with 2 others, different brands but both 1.35V, and tried in the 2 RAM slots. Still nothing.

A clear CMOS didn't help either.

The power supplies delivers 19.4V, the 5V, 3.3V and 1.35V on board are present.

Is there a troubleshooting procedure for the Serial presence detect (SPD) ?

Many thanks

Romain

Loud noise out of speakers

$

I use a BT receiver to play musik over my system. Since I use this NUC a very loud noise comes out of the speaker if:

1. choosing next title into player

2. drag and drop new music into player

3. Any input over Keyboard (this is new after Win 1803 was installed today)

4. It never happened so far if Audiolevel was zero but after upgrade to 1803 it happens even if Audiolevel is zero.

Point 1 and 2 happens from time to time and apears not constantly. (Win 1703)

Point 3 happen all the time now. A speaker has crashed today because of that really loud but short noise. (Win 1803)

What did I do?

Changing BT receiver and use differend players. But it happens with VLC, MS Mediaplayer and Cyberlink Player (all new versions)

So it means up to now cannot use this NUC für playing music.

Failures of Intel(R) Display Audio on NUC

$

I'm having a terrible time with HDMI on my new NUC. Hours of searching and research have revealed others having similar issues, but those threads always seem to end without resolution. Frustrating.

I have the NUC7i5BNK J31144-309 HDMI port connected to an HDMI 2.0 port on a new LG43UD79 4K monitor 3840x2160 30Hz, Win10 display scaling either 100% or 150%. The NUC BIOS is updated to latest BNKBL357.86A.0063.2018.0413.1542, and I have tried setting the BIOS default display to either AUTO or HDMI. I have simultaneously removed both drivers, rebooted, and let Win10 re-install them. They are the latest available (April 6) versions including Intel(R) Iris(R) Plus Graphics 640 version 24.20.100.6025 and Intel(R) Display Audio version 10.25.0.5.

My NUC is set never to sleep. Whenever the monitor is blanked and turned off, or if the input source on the monitor is switched to another computer, there is no audio when the monitor is restored. The volume control system icon reliably has a red 'x' on it, and there is no corresponding playback device. Going to the Device Manager for Intel(R) Display Audio and using Disable followed by Enable sometimes resolves the issue. Other times, a reboot is required.

This is evidently a long term problem that has not been addressed by Intel but should be easy to reproduce. I also have the problem of all windows getting shrunk to the upper left all the time, but the audio problem is pretty much a show stopper for trying to replace my 8-year-old old Win10 tower with a NUC. System Support Utility output is attached. I could really use some suggestions for things I haven't tried yet.

Thanks,

Curt

NUC 7i5BNH does not output 4K@60p with 10-bit YCbCr420 color + HDR

$

Hi all,

Just got myself a new LG 65B7 TV

Hooked my NUC to it - it switched to 4K automatically.

I has also able to change the output to 60Hz via the Intel management utility.

However, I do not see an option to change the color depth or format.

I saw some screen captures in other topics where people have an "advanced" in the "display" menu - while I do not.

Is it something I have to enable somehow?

Maybe the missing settings are hiding there...

Anyway, my current settings are stuck at 4K@60p with 8-bit YCbCr420, and I do not see any way to change those.

Updated the graphics drivers, flashed HDMI firmware, flashed BIOS, Windows is updated to the creators update.

Regarding HDR - I do see the toggle - but when toggled - it just goes back to being off.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

NUC8i7HVK BIOS update problems

$

Hello, I just purchased a NUC8i7HVK Kit.  I have installed Windows 10 Professional, and noticed that the BIOS Version is quite old, at:

BIOS Version/Date    Intel Corp. HNKBLi70.86A.0029.2018.0222.1606, 2/22/2018

This version is dated enough that I cannot even locate release notes for it.  I also noticed the first release I could find, 0034, dates from 3/29/2018 and is stated as an "Initial pre-production BIOS release".  I downloaded the latest version, 0037 from 4/22/2018.  Unfortunately, none of the BIOS update methods I have tried work. I am not new to various methods of BIOS update, having done system builds for over 25 years.  That leaves me especially frustrated in this scenario.  I'd greatly appreciate any guidance the community has to offer.

Methods attempted:

Method: Express BIOS Update Instructions for Intel® NUC

Outcome: Failed - new BIOS version selected, reboot to no observable activity

Notes: I am able to follow the linked instructions through Step 5, where I click Restart and Install BIOS button.  Immediately after clicking, the NUC reboots to no video signal.  Sometimes, there is a second reboot in this cycle.  After a couple minutes, the NUC reboots itself into Windows stating that the BIOS update has failed.  There is a link here to a readme file which, to my reading, contains no relevant troubleshooting information.

Method: F7 BIOS Update Instructions for Intel® NUC

Outcome: Failed - new BIOS version selected, reboot to no observable activity

Notes: I am able to follow the linked instructions through Step 8, where I select the .bio file located on the USB drive.  Immediately after selection, the NUC reboots and there is no video signal.  I wait for 5+ minutes with no response.  I have to hard power down the NUC, at which point it boots to Windows still at the old BIOS version.

Method: Power Button Menu BIOS Update Instructions for Intel® NUC

Outcome: Failed - new BIOS version selected, reboot to no observable activity

Notes: I am able to follow the linked instructions through Step 5, where I select F4 for recovery or F7 for normal update.  After selecting the new BIOS version, both methods yield an immediate reboot to no video signal.  Again, after waiting a few minutes I must hard power cycle the NUC to reboot into Windows to see the old BIOS version still installed.

Method: iFlash BIOS Update Instructions for Intel® NUC

Outcome: Failed - could not boot to USB

Notes: I created a USB boot disk using Rufus and the correct parameters for a FreeDOS based disk.  I could not select the MS-DOS option what was available in various tutorials.  Using the F10 boot options on power-up, the USB drive is not an option.  In BIOS I've ensure that USB Boot is selected, Secure Boot is deselected, and UEFI USB is first in boot priority.

Ok, I hope that's enough for now.  I'm attaching a dump of my System Information for reference.

I ran a search on this forum for a no signal issue with the NUC and didn't find an answer for my problem.  I just purchased the NUC8i7HVK today.  I installed the hard drive as well as the memory.  When I power the unit on, my monitor gives me a no signal message.  I'm using an HDMI cable and it doesn't show up.  I used a display port cable and it still doesn't show up.  Both cables work fine when I connect them to my older Skull Canyon NUC6i7KYK.  Can anyone shed some light on this issue?  The bios screen does not appear because there is simply no signal in the first place.

Thanks in advance
